Ive started thinking about my next two league games, even though I cant actually play them till the next round (3 weeks away).
Round 7: Scenario #5, Supply and Demand versus Kevin and his Cryx.
Kevins army: Currently 4 out of 5 wins, all by caster kill.
Master Necrotech Mortenbra
Black Ogrun Boarding Party
Necrotech + 1 Scrap thrall
As you can see, Kevin has been killing casters all league long. It doesnt take a brain surgeon to figure out how he does it, Morty has an amazing spell in "Terminal Velocity" making any of her Warjacks amazingly good at killing *Living* models. Luckily for me, eDeneghra is Undead and therefore wont be susceptible to that particular assassination run. He is also lacking a bit in the Magical Weapons department, with only the Warwitch Siren (and her amazing Spray) and Mortenebra packing any good spells. No Arc-Nodes means low threat projection, so hopefully he will have to risk either Morty or her Skarlock to get any decent spells going.
Chances are, I will face a swarm of Bane Knights and Black Ogrun, with the rest of his army providing support - the Slayer doing heavy lifting and the Corruptor being pathetic with the lack of living targets. None of these jacks are characters, meaning the Machine Wraiths have some eligible targets! Yay!
The enemy Siren is definitely priority number one however, she could easily take out my ghosts - and so I believe I will need to sacrifice a Deathripper to get a boosted Venom on her.
Supply and Demand is a relatively simple scenario, I need to control my objective while contesting his zone - running eDenny to the Objective and popping feat should hold his army back long enough to get the win, all I should need to do is swarm the enemy objective with ghosts to make sure I fulfill the conditions. The Fuel Caches is a pretty harmless Objective, with the small bonus of running/charging for free if a model starts within 4" of it.
Game Plan - secure my objective, run lots of ghosts to contest his zone, and pop feat to lock them all in place.
Round 8: Scenario #9, Outflank, Outfight, Outlast versus Shane and his Legion.
Shanes army: Currently 0 out of 4 wins.
Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight
Blighted Nyss Striders
>Strider Officer and Musician
Shane hasnt done very well so far in the league, which suprises me as it seems like a strong army on paper. What is effectively 3 Carniveans gives me the willies, since I have no decent way of taking down heavy armour. On the up side, as far as I can tell the only magical attacks he has are Thagroshs sword and his spell Obliteration - I know, since Butcher has it, that it is not great. Costs too much, and will probably only kill one ghost at a time.
Striders are a pain in the ass, but I hope I have enough models that can take them out before they can cause too much damage. A heat-seeking Hellmouth will probably take care of them in one hit. Apart from that, we are playing a difficult scenario to win easily on - two very large control areas and I have to full control it to gain a point. This means clearing one out of all models, and then popping feat to lock his army out. This one could be dicey, as I will need to run everything forward and hope I can stop him from putting a hard to kill Carnivean in the way. I think I will have to use Prey on one of the Carniveans, and kill it with Nightmare as a last ditch effort to clear an area. (Although Tartarus and Withershadow may be able to sort it out themselves) Setting them on fire wouldnt hurt either.
So, shouldnt be overly difficult battles, I need to concentrate on the scenario and set up a 1, 2, 3 scenario victory with Gratuitous use of my feat. Looking forward to the challenge!!
First attempt at Age of Sigmar - Well I got the General's handbook and printed out the Compendiums which allowed me to construct a couple of small 500pt(ish) armies based around my WH40k D...
